What is Somatic Sex Education/Sexological Bodywork?
Somatic Sex Education is learning about pleasure through the body. It acknowledges that pleasure is a fundamental resource of being a human on this planet and that sexual health and erotic education are healthy and basic human rights.
While all practitioners vary in the structure of how they work with clients, my focus is on titration; small doses of positive experiences to support the nervous system, brain, and body to rewire towards pleasure. This practice allows for our nervous systems to settle together, creating space for ease in relationship as we venture down a path of dropping into your erotic body.
My practice is based around Betty Martin’s Wheel of Consent as a format for understanding touch agreements. Additionally, I use some exercises and techniques from Surrogate Partner Therapy training.
My priority in session is your body and the integrity I feel in my own body. You are in complete control of what happens in session, and while I will offer suggestions of how we might unfold, we will practice pausing, saying No, and asking for what you want.
In my opinion, Somatic Sex Education is the version of sex ed that we all could’ve used much earlier in life.
You are not alone. You are normal.

As per the founders of the Somatic Sex Educators Association, Somatic Sex Education is an umbrella term for multiple forms of sex education that focus on the body. “Sexological Bodywork” is a form of somatic sex education, a full definition of sexological bodywork is available here: Association of Certified Sexological Bodyworkers
A primary difference in my own practice is the boundary of uni-directional touch. In sexological bodywork, the direction of touch only goes from practitioner to client. I believe that there can be great benefit to the exploration of mutuality within an educational container. Mutuality is the exploration of a relational space, and we are relational beings. In this space, it is imperative for me to trust your Yes and your No, and I may not offer this container to start with.
